Yesterday’s Top Dre did not feature the usual compère, Huw Hilditch Roberts.
HHR is Mr Festival. It was he who organised the event and ran the show. Or so we all thought. Or so he convinced us while he hosted the event each year. But, this year, he'd vanished. In his place was Trefor Jones no less, the new head teacher at Ysgol Brynhyfryd.
It turns out that HHR was actually nothing to do with organising the festival at all. He had simply acted as MC. Informed sources suggest that there may have been a falling out between the organisers and him. We have been unable to get to the bottom of that. This could have been after last year's Top Dre, when HHR appeared on stage sometimes with his young daughter. Or perhaps after he videoed the event from the stage as if he owned it (as, actually, we all thought he did).
The affable Bethan Hughes continued as the other compère this year.
