It's that Time of Year Again

It's festival week once again.

The festival's been well signposted at every possible entrance point to town and leaflets have come through the door with the Clwyd Connection advertisement puff.

We all associate Gŵyl Rhuthun Festival with the phenomenon that is Top Dre. But there's much more to the festival than that.

So it was with some interest that I read through the 2023 programme and spotted no fewer than four occasions when the market will be open as part of the festival. But the market would be open, anyway, wouldn't it. It seemed slightly odd to be mentioned as part of the festival.

And there appeared to be no fewer than 10 events by Resource, either at their town centre store, café, at their hire van or at their Lôn Parcwr premises. This included 'late night shopping' on one evening till 7 p.m. and somewhat incongruously a 'make your own recycled plant pot event'. Should these instead be part of the forthcoming so-called 'green week'? Are these relevant to the festival? It seemed that this was a bit of a Resource takeover.

In context, as for more traditional weekday events, such as evening concerns and educational workshops at the Craft Centre, there are eight.

But Top Dre will always be the main feature and this writer for one cannot wait for that event. Entry is again only a fiver. Must be the Wales' best value live show, by far.
