Sight for Sore Eyes?

Is this container a road safety hazard?

That's the highways department view.

And the truth is that it does pose a risk. The first time you see it, you take your eyes off the road on a roundabout for a second and your risk increases. The container's designed to be seen. It advertises I T Williams container hire. When you first espy it, you struggle for a second to take it in properly, to process it. What's a shipping container doing there? What's the signage on it? It's not like bunting or the painted pallets. The container demands much more attention. You cannot brush it aside.

But it's probably no less a hazard than the highways department allowing sponsorship of roundabouts with signage clearly designed to be seen as you enter the it, seen here with additional signage for Yr Eisteddfod. And, yesterday, a further sign joined the roundabout. This is an official one welcoming visitors to Denbighshire. How, then, can the highways department complain about the container?

We seem to have a somewhat blasé attitude to such things.
