War Fuelling Fuel Prices

When should I post on forecourt petrol prices in Rhuthun/Ruthin? They're going up continuously and there's a new surprise every day. But, amid rumours that fuel has reached its peak (we'll see about that) I have decided to go live, now. 

 As usual these days, BP is selling at the highest price but Esso isn't far behind. The cheapest (at Esso) is currently £7.40 per gallon for unleaded; and £7.95 for Derv. The cheapest unleaded breached £7.00 per gallon March 1st. The most expensive currently (at BP) is £7.54.  

Meanwhile, diesel overshot £8.00 per gallon for the first time today (at BP) but was 5p short at Esso. 

The graph below shows the ups and downs for the cheapest motor fuel as available since 2008 at our two petrol stations. Sometimes one is more expensive; at other times, they swap over. What is demonstrates is the volatility of the price, the sharp increase recently and the differnece between the start of the coronavirus pandemic when the cheapest unleaded was £4.81, Between May 2020 and today, the oil companies have raised their petrol by 54 per cent.
