Announced today, what does the promised £150 council tax rebate for householders from April 1st, 2022 mean to us? It depends where you live. Only bands A to D inclusive are applicable for the rebate and here is the breakdown when comparing Rhuthun/Ruthin and Y Rhyl.
Eligible households in Y Rhyl | 80 per cent |
Eligible households in Rhuthun | 57 per cent |
In other words, 57 per cent of Rhuthun homes will be eligible for the rebate but 80 per cent of dwellings in Y Rhyl will get it.
In Rhuthun/Ruthin, this affects 1,849 domestic properties in town, which is 57 per cent of the total. This will result in a cumulative saving among households of £277,350.
Contrast this to the position in Rhyl, Denbighshire's most populous town (which is five times the population of Rhuthun/Ruthin). There, the £150 rebate will benefit 80 per cent of homes.
