Today, Rhuthun/Ruthin returns to the dark browns and greys of unlit windows and locked doors of shut shops associated with a quiet non-trading bank holiday Monday. Usually, it's the same on Sundays. Yesterday, though, was much different. Maybe it was the ever-so-delayed warm weather. Or perhaps people were pleased to be let off the leash. Half the town was as busy as it ever gets (these days).
The Square as well at the Old Gaol was thronging this morning at 11 a.m. and although it had died back at lunchtime there were still many people around.
Given the season, the craft side of things felt just a little out of place. It felt like there should've been frost not the fire of a late spring sun. The food court was different. This was a colourful buffet of meat and vegan, of pizza and pie, with an array of fresh veg to complement it.
It's probably too soon to say whether Ruthin Artisan Markets has managed to turn the tide as regards outside markets in Rhuthun.
Clwyd Street and the Square were busy. Well Street was not, even though Ceffi and Escape were open

The Old Courthouse was officially open for the first time this weekend, with an exhibition. It was staffed largely by volunteers. Some other shops tried their luck, such as Elfair and Castle Bell
