Protest to Kill the Bill?

Should we all be concerned at the proposed reduction in civil liberties associated with the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Court Bill, especially after the mishandled aftermath of Sarah Everard's death? Under the Bill, our police will have more powers to deal with (legitimate) protests.

Some in Rhuthun/Ruthin think we should be troubled. Yes, this issue has even reached Rhuthun. Yesterday at midday, a group of nearly a dozen and a half gathered on St Peter's Square roundabout to protest peacefully—unlike, for example, in Bristol. Rhuthun's contingent were probably largely unnoticed or disregarded by people going about their lockdown business. After all, it was a little half-hearted. It was slightly unfortunate that this 'mob' chose the very time to demonstrate when we were all to take a minute to remember those who had lost their life owing to covid-19.

After lingering awhile on the Square, the band moved off down Market Street towards Tesco.

Clearly, people across Britain and indeed some in Rhuthun are very worried, even though the media isn't always reporting the strength of feeling about what some are calling the disproportionate controls over free expression and protest.
