Footsteps out of Lockdown

We know from yesterday's announcement that hairdressers and barbers will open from Monday March 15th but non-essential retail—the bulk of the town—cannot re-open till April 12th (although in supermarkets non-essential aisles can do so from March 23rd, when garden centres are also able to reopen).

Work continues in the former Kave barber (which closed in the autumn of 2019 through want of staff) to convert it into yet another ladies' hair salon (though it was traditionally thus, once called Alison's and Josephine's). It looks like new Hair by Kelly will miss the March 2021 rush which will be bigger than Christmas...

This morning, there were employees within Hairs & Graces and in Hashm. Elsewhere, there was no sign of life. No doubt booking lines were red hot and these can be managed from home. There will no doubt be a bonanza.

... as will Tommy's

But there's no hint at all as regards hospitality. Those able to do so will need to stick with takeaway meals.

An unusual sight: a Marston's dray outside the Boar's Head this week
