Naturally Organic

Today, for the first time, Naturally Ethical stocks organic fruit and veg. This complements its range of ethically sourced comparison goods and similarly its environmentally sensitive household products. The addition of organic veg is a useful one for the town and, together with nearby Rhuthun Wholefoods, coalesces the sector nicely in a few small steps from each other.

Back in the day, what, 30 years ago, the Organic Stores on Sealand Road, Chester, operated on Thursdays in the market hall and this transferred to what is now Black Dog Picture Framing, extended opening, though it was never six or even five days (it was Thursdays to Saturdays inclusive). Rhuthun Organics closed in December 2008 but it continues weekly deliveries in the Rhuthun/Ruthin area to this day, for those in the know. You occasionally see its vehicle in Rhuthun on Thursday evenings if you're in the right place at the right time.

In 2015, a couple from near Llanrhaeadr started Eat Your Greens, a pesticide-free veg box service which was also delivered. It grew to organic principles but was never certified as such. The business passed on in 2018 to new owners. Some of its excess veg was sold at Rhuthun Wholefoods.

The organic veg range in the Co-op is sparse. That in Tesco is modest.
