Having a Good Moan

There have been some rather intemperate voices on the topic of the new one-way system which are nothing short of molesting our mayor. There should be no room for the sort of abuse. And, let's be clear that this is not a town council scheme. If the town council chooses to back it that does not mean that it's the mayor who has put this in. In fact, it was the very mayor who encouraged us to ensure we all had our say. In spite of the obvious flaws in the way in which the consultation was worded, we did get an opportunity to voice our opinion beforehand.

The Vitara driver clearly misunderstood the information and he carried on up Market Street, to face on-coming vehicles. The car circled has parked entirely on the footway over the stippled dropped kerb

Fortunately, there has been a counter swell of support for the mayor. Mayor Harris is taking the mud thrown at him with good grace. He said, 'I prefer to keep focused on more positive things'. In spite of this statement, who knows how this has affected the mayor's own well-being. It was truly shocking that people in Rhuthun/Ruthin should act in such a way. It's perfectly possible to express an opinion in a constructive way.

On Thursday November 12th, I noticed two issues. One was this driver heading up Market Street. When he reached the no entry sign, he slowed almost to a stop. It was certainly long enough to take in that he could not go forward. It seems that he was confused enough to plough on. And look what happened towards the top. To get himself out of trouble, he tried to drive over the barriers but in the end had to concede defeat when faced with two on-coming vehicles. Perhaps the signage needs improving by Market Street car park.

What was also interesting was a second motorist at the top of Market Street who was shouting to the first that the street was one way. That second motorist was returning to his car having parked entirely on the footway on Market Street by the HSBC, completely blocking it for pedestrians (it's circled in red). What was really interesting was that on his dashboard was a previously issued parking ticket for this second motorist. The guy clearly is a serial parking offender!
