Good News and Bad

People were directed to Park Road car park and thence by foot to Crispin Yard

Not everyone was delighted when the temporary covid-19 testing site popped up today at Crispin Yard. Although handy for the testing site in terms of the adjacent public lavatories, parents were concerned that their children using the play area would needlessly have to see the place. And some people complained that 'the elderly' might be put off using Cae Ddol as a result—but those who made these comments didn't appear to be that old. Whether these were spurious arguments or not, the NHS ambulance trust cleared the site this afternoon (almost) pending a move tomorrow to the largely empty county hall car park. Probably for the best, though.

All that was left of the pop-up testing site, just before dusk

Once again, Denbighshire county council staff were vilified, this time for the use of Crispin Yard as the venue. The motivation was good: this is the only car park with a lavatory and it's essential that testing staff have access to one and also that it can easily and effectively be locked off for their exclusive use, for obvious reasons. But, as usual, the uncontrolled bear pit of Facebook foments discord and misunderstanding... as the county council gets the blame, regardless.

The new site at county hall takes shape, with what looks like a drive-through lane

Still, it was good that Rhuthun/Ruthin now has a testing site and that will be with us for about three weeks (or so). There seems to be some confusion as to for whom this is intended: you have to display symptoms to be eligible to use it.
