Disorder

The first weekend after the fire break lockdown... and it's disappointing to learn that Rhuthun/Ruthin last night was the subject of a police dispersal order. Such an action indicates the seriousness of the trouble that emerged at pub closing time at 10 p.m. These orders require a clear justification and are rare in rural Denbighshire. This is the worst case of anti-social behaviour in town for many years (but, even so, was nothing on the scale of problems you might expect in larger urban areas). It transpires that there was some rivalry between what might loosely be called two 'gangs' of youths, many of whom were seemingly under 20 and clearly were intoxicated. The implication is that some landlords and landladies were not fulfilling their responsibilities to ensure that patrons were not drinking beyond capabilities.

It's fair to say that the reaction from some of the licensed premises was not always positive. At least one town centre pub is not fully complying with the various Welsh government directives.

The real issue, however, is that lack of respect for the police and the fact that such incidents further threaten everyone's health in these times which are dangerous enough. Five people were arrested.
