Strange Weather for Summer

After dark, yesterday evening's rare & dazzling lighting spectacle was like a neon strip light that struggled to ignite properly, constantly spitting and fizzing on and off every second or so. The sheet lightening illuminated the Vale almost constantly like white flares sent up from a ship in the dead of night. The other constant was the low rumble of thunder around the hills, the sound of a perpetually falling avalanche. Then came the heavy rain. This morning, the River Clwyd was much higher than usual for the time of year and in full flow, with fast moving waters thick with mud and sediment washed out from the land, like brown lava pouring from a volcano. Before evaporated in the rising morning heat, mists were laying low over fields alongside a heavy autumnal dew.
