Still very few about in the evenings. All our takeaways remain open and, from Monday, you can now eat and drink inside. A number of places are now open:
Boar's Head (previously outdoors only) New and open for the first time on Wednesday August 5th was Origin, above, on St Peter's Square, ablaze with light.
At 9p.m., here is a head count of numbers within each open venue. It suggests that confidence regarding visiting your local is not great, especially given the little choice you might expect venues to see more people:
Inside the Park Place on Thursday evening
Feathers
Park Place (previously outdoors only)
Wetherspoon's
Panda Garden
Ocean Pearl (previously offering a takeaway service only)
There are, however, a number remaining closed:
The Wine Vaults (though we understand the Vaults is serving in its rear car park area¹)
The Farmers' Arms
The Myddelton Grill
The Star
The Manor House (open to residents only)
The Corporation Arms, currently under scaffolding, only opens Fridays and Saturdays and we'd suggest that it will be doing so, given the lights were on inside today.
Wetherspoon's | About a half dozen within Three quarters of outside seating taken |
Park Place | Two inside A number behind the closed gates in the beer garden |
Boar's Head | Four |
Feathers | No one |
Origin | One customer |
¹ Since there is no indication of this on the front of the Vaults, we aren't sure. there are certainly seats in the rear car park. If it is open, it's a bit of a secret
