No Improvement

I wish it were otherwise. I wish I could inject a bit of hope and optimism in these post-lockdown posts. But...

Today, late morning, and overcast leaden skies and if not rain then a sticky dampness. So, it’s hardly surprising that the town was as quiet as it has been at the very beginning of lockdown. As expected, there was the usual amount of traffic but for those traders having keenly opened their doors they were again disappointed by the few who shopped. Even the outside post office queue was down to two people in a shadow of its former conga self.

This skip's been on Well Street for a couple of weeks and here a workman for Corwen Carpets surfs it to make space

The car park usually favoured by shoppers, Market Street, managed nine vehicles. Dog Lane was busier, with 24.

 Clwyd Street  9 vehicles
 Square  15 vehicles
 Market Street 9 vehicles
 Wynnstay Road  8vehicles
 Well Street 6 vehicles
 Dog Lane 24 vehicles

Thee were five people on the Square (not including two queuing for the Post Office), two in the HSBC and six people on Well Street. In or queuing for shops were one on the Square (not inlcuding the PO), six on Well Street and no one on Clwyd Street.

There was evidence of activity at either Wetherspoon’s or the Myddelton Grill: three cars parked plus, perhaps alarmingly, a Rentokil van. But which of the two premises was it visiting? Lynne was lovingly lashing her shop pink. At least one hairdresser had a member of staff within.
