It's lovely to see Rhuthun/Ruthin burst back into life after empty streets. Except that, actually, the number of cars zipping through town may have increased exponentially (and uncomfortably) but shoppers are still keeping away.
Lunchtime yesterday (Friday)
Perhaps it's a confidence thing. The more people out and about, the more will herd into town. Could it be that pavements are too narrow or the footprint in stores too small? Maybe we're just too used to shopping online. The lifeblood of the town, its cafés and pubs, are not open at all.
So, things remained quiet all week. I would suggest people are only using town centres because they have to, not because they want to: they shop for the minimum amount of time to get the basics. One thing to note is that people will shop for convenience good (groceries) but there doesn't appear an appetite for comparison goods (as you might find in the town centre).
So, who opened? Not Ceffi and Mococo, in spite of activity in and around both.
