Busy Week Ahead

There are a number of changes coming up this week.

First, Castle Bell reopened today, on a one-in-one-out basis. Castle Bell closed its shop at the start of lockdown but has maintained daily paper deliveries throughout. Not just that, either. It offered a wide variety of groceries and even partnered with Just 4 Paws Pet Cave in delivering animal essentials.

Castle Bell's had a sort out prior to reopening. We're guessing that fizzy drinks laced in sugar and preservatives don't really ever go out of date

Castle Bell announced on May 22nd that that it was stopping other than newspaper deliveries. "Eight weeks on", they said, "and our supermarkets, milkmen and wholesalers seem to be on top of the supply chain now". They spent some of last week sorting things out in the shop.

Secondly, tomorrow, the Coffee Cabin will also restart. The Coffee Cabin was the first café to close, ahead of the general lockdown and indeed ahead of ministerial diktat that closed cafés first. They will offer a takeaway service only. They have freshly adorned windows.

Note that the premises are "dog friendly" (as is Gail's) but that at present neither humans nor dogs will enter. It'll be takeaway only. Expect seating on the pavement, as before.

Thirdly, from today, on-street parking enforcement and dog & litter enforcement is back. As far as we're aware, there is no requirement to pay in off-street car parks. Those who have gotten used to keeping their cars on the roadside for what seems like indefinite periods need to find a contingency. Perhaps moving to a car park is a possibility. The cost of collecting parking money still far outweighs the small revenue received from empty car parks.

And, equally important, from today, the lockdown is eased marginally, as we may all now meet with members of one other household, provided that this is outside. Further than that, those who continue to shield may also go out and meet people. This resulted on at least one of my neighbours who'd previously had no contact with anyone actually had some visitors today. I am sure this was quite a relief for her. She had been assiduous in keeping to the rules—unlike a number of her rule-bending neighbours.
