Dismal, Dull, Dreary

Lockdown is a lot less pleasant when its chilly and when it's raining. It's been both nearly all day. Like applying a blindfold, poorer weather takes away what little freedom you're able to cherish. No longer can the sun kiss and warm your skin, as the damp draws in like a cold empty bed, as lockdown becomes a lonely party where no one came, forsaken by its guests. Head-in-hands rain robs you of your last penny. This month was—was—the sunniest April since records began 91 years ago. The warmth made lockdown tolerable; the rain makes it unendurable and cruel.
