Freeze on Peas

Absolutely no frozen peas in the Co-op this afternoon of any brand. Why these? Why pease? Is this the latest commodity to be in short supply?

Well, no. The Co-op truck driver with today's bulk delivery—including peasen—had a crash. We can expect peas to return to the Co-op's freezer later today.

As for fresh (as opposed to frozen) veg, there were some onions available at the Co-op—but that was it.

Meanwhile, Ruthin Wholefoods reports brisk business, as people who would not normally support this family-run enterprise use it as a tool, a reservoir for stocking up. So, for example, the shop's out of bread flour... but customers have left behind the spelt, not realising you can bake with that, as well. Yesterday was especially manic, we're told. Definitely a turning point.

And, finally, a 93-year old Ruthinian has referred to a regression to life on the home front as it would've been during World War II. There's the worry and general gloom. Then there are the shortages, with potential rationing, something that is likely to get worse and go far beyond a simple packet of frozen peas.
