Flasher in Llanrheaedr

Can you believe that it's been 4½ years since the county council introduced a 30 mph limit through the village of Pentre Llanrhaeadr (see post one and post two on this). The new limit is widely ignored, with drivers well inside it before they break and plenty ploughing through at 40 mph.

Then, yesterday, this appeared. It's immediately after the new houses currently under construction, on the north-bound side of the road. It's a speed display that reacts to each vehicle going past it. It also looks as if it's in someone's front garden but it was placed there by the highways authority with permission to try to mitigate excessive speed through Pentre Llanrhaeadr.

And what an impact it is having. Fewer drivers are breaking late. More drivers are keeping within the 30 mph limit. If you exceed 30, the sign flashes at you and adds "Arafwch/Slow Down".

Could we have more, please?
