It's been all go on the Square this week. Following Saturday's vehicle fire/domestic incident, the Myddelton Grill is closed from Wednesday because of an energy cock-up, they say. This relates to unpaid bills rumoured to be £50,000 by the people who used the State of Distress building as a cannabis farm. The "powers" that be (geddit?) seem to have confused the two premises and switched off the lights at the Myd, management claim. Earlier in the year, they confused the current residents of State of Distress with the former tenants and did the same there, too.
As for the Myd, this is just at their busiest period, yet the place has been in darkness. The Myd has the support of the local MP in getting this resolved but rumours still persist that it is the Myd rather than their near former neighbours who haven't paid their bill.
UPDATE: the Myd reopened on Friday December 14th at 6.00pm. thanks to a generator. Patrons reported that although the place was lit, it wasn't warm. The generator continued throughout December and into the new year.
