Carol Lloyd RIP—unsung hero

We could've mentioned the untimely death of Hafina Clwyd or former mayor Bettie Downs (who, sadly, had so few attending her funeral). But we didn't. Obits are not our thing. We do, however, need to refer to Carol, whose funeral it was this afternoon. We learnt that she couldn't cook but we also had it confirmed that she was a special woman who touched the lives of Trem y Coed residents (energetically) and those in the Rhuthun/Ruthin St John's Ambulance brigade. Above all, she was such a part of SS Mwrog and Mary's Church, Llanfwrog, and two surviving former rectors were present at her funeral, the well-liked Godfrey Caine Jones and the godly John Barden Davies. She was something of an unsung heroine. Not for her the recognition some others seek. In spite of at times a rather hard life, she always had a friendly and often wise word and above all she had time for people. She was at one time warden at Llanfwrog and latterly its verger. That she was so well-liked was demonstrated by the large turnout: the church was packed and there was standing room only from 45 minutes before the start of the service.
