Au Revoir to the Star?

The Star is again under new management or so the sign outside suggests. This is the fifth change of management since the place re-opened in 2010 as The Morning Star. In 2010, it began as a tapas bar. The second landlord continued in that vain for a while but changed to more standard fare, although there were times when no food was sold at all. The third made it a Mexican before the fourth transformed it into a bistro.

One half of the former partnership has left to cook at The Trefnant, near Dinbych, following a dispute over work patterns and a lack of investment in the fabric of the place—it's starting to look shabby. The other half, the half that apparently owns the building, remains and now opens it merely as a pub or bar with accommodation above. As such, we're fairly sure it's doomed to failure. Kinda au revoir to the Star? The range of drinks for sale was fine as a restaurant but is nowhere near adequate for a pub.

Not that the menu had changed during the fourth management's incarnation. And, to be honest, we were never sure about the food, anyway: for example, no one would admit to exactly what sort of beer-battered fish they served with their chips, resulting in the feeling that it was some sort of cut-price poisonous Vietnamese force-fed factory farmed pangasius. You got the impression that it served cheap food all dressed up.
