Buses in Administration

Ruabon-based bus & coach operator GHA Coaches is reported to be in administration. There were no GHA buses on scheduled service today. All its local school transport routes to Ysgol Brynhyfryd and beyond were covered by other contractors.

In addition to its garages in Ruabon, Cheshire and Shrewsbury, GHA operated over 30 buses from premises on Lôn Parcwr, Rhuthun/Ruthin, plus a handful from its original Bewts GG site. These pictures reveal that the garage in  Rhuthun was today stuffed with buses, none of which entered service.

In this area, GHA began to take over from Arriva, then known as Crosville Wales, from the late 1990s. It gradually built things up from there. In 2002, GHA took over the business of L E Roberts t/a Cloion Coaches and with it came more local bus and school contracts. Arriva came and went on a number of routes. When Rogers of Ruthin at Graigfechan ceased trading in 2013 and Clwydian Tours/Pentre Motors before it in 2007, GHA was able to expand further. It was in 2016, this year, that GHA had gained all local bus routes in Rhuthun (and, indeed, south Denbighshire) to add to many of its school buses. The last service from another operator, M & H Coaches, was the 76 and this came over this February.

GHA operated from Ruthin to Denbigh & Rhyl; to Wrexham; to Mold; to Corwen; and to the villages around Rhuthun.
