A Lifetime's Ambition

Revd Phil Carey, left, with the bishop of St Asaph

We congratulate Phillip Carey, late of Ty'n y Parc, upon being ordained on June 27th as deacon in the Church in Wales. Phil was a longstanding server & crucifer at SS Mwrog & Mary, Llanfwrog, before moving to live in Queen's Park, Wrexham. There, he trained as a lay reader in the Church in Wales. Now, his ordination to deacon fulfills something of a lifetime's vocation. Revd Phil Carey will serve as assistant curate, usually just known simply as curate, to Rhos & Penycae parishes, near Wrexham. He is a product of the St Asaph diocese's 2020 vision, to bring on local people into deeper ministry. Interestingly, before the recent Rhuthun/Ruthin ecclesiastic reorganisation, the last priest at SS Mwrog & Mary during Phil's service undertook his curacy at Rhosllannerchrugog.
