Brand Refresh

Announced in today's Daily Post is the result of the new logo competition.

We were asked to choose between three. In our opinion, the best design won and it now looks better than it did with a white silhouette of what appears to be St Peter’s.

It still feels as it it's escaped from the Tate Liverpool.

There are some questions:

Will it make any difference? The mayor thinks so. He said, "This logo is perfect for Ruthin and will send out a clear message—'come and visit Ruthin. We have a lot to offer'".

Do we really need one? I suppose the real question is, are we missing something these days if we don't? A logo's now de rigueur.

What about Dinbych? Time was when there was talk of collaboration with our northerly neighbour. Are we just fragmenting the visitor market by doing our own thing?

Best of a bad job? Could it have been better? Definitely. But I couldn't've come up with anything.

Ironically, the agency responsible also came up with a brand refresh for Rhuthun/Ruthin's chief competitor, Dinbych/Denbigh, an effort that we rated hightly.

Below, here's another recent example of a bran refresh : )
