As predicted, the speed limit at Llanrhaeadr is set to fall to 30 mph. The evidence was installed yesterday, with two new columns that will delineate the new 30 mph zone (see above). These are well north of Pentgre Llanrhaeadr village.
Meanwhile, the 40 mph zone that used to finish immediately north of Pentre Llanrhaeadr was yesterday extended to a point north of the turn to Llanrhaeadr village and the redundant 40 mph signs, below, removed, leaving orphaned poles. This, no doubt, was at the behest of the school, instigated by its
campaign; it's been a very persistent one and there's no doubt that the new limits, both 30 and extended 40, are political in nature. Had the school got its way entirely, they would have insisted upon an 30 mph limit where currently we will see 40. Yet, the school benefits from neither limit because it's set back off the A525, with a minor road and dead end in front of it.
