Sul y Mamau Hapus

Coinciding with the second huge Denbighshire Free Press pull-out of "drawings of mum" was the front page that featured a slightly gruesome picture of a dead lamb stripped to the bone. This may or may not've been a "big cat" April fool's joke but it would've been visible to nearly 1,000 primary aged pupils eager to see their own drawing of their mother inside.

It would be difficult to thumb through the pictures without saying "aw" as pupils as young as three caricatured their mothers. One or two of the older ones showed quite some artistic promise.

But did anyone notice anything interesting about last week's first selection of "drawings of mum"? It included a large batch from our own Ysgol Penbarras. Penbarras's seemed different to the rest. The others appeared remarkably consistent, age for age. But compare Penbarras's and these were decidedly more professional, sharper & less "fuzzy", vibrant, neater, better designed and consistently well coloured. They must be doing good.
