There was a definite minority of just over 11 per cent who felt that Castle Hotel should remain under that name. 13 per cent of those who responded felt that it didn't matter under what name the pub was branded: it would be known as Wetherspoon's anyway.
We've let J D Wetherspoon know about this and will report their response, if any. I'd say they will simply acknowledge and leave it at that.

"Upon take over by Wetherspoon's, should the Castle Hotel change its name back to the original White Lion?"Just over three quarters of respondents felt that Wetherspoon's should change the name to the White Lion. This comprised 52 per cent who felt it would avoid confusion with the Castle Hotel and 24 per cent who believed a name change would create a fresh start for the pub.
