Parking Changes

You could consult the map printed in today's Free Press but since the newspaper has decided to shrink it such that even a strong magnifying glass won't do, your best bet is to attend the Craft Centre today (only), between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

We're referring to changes to on-street parking in Rhuthun/Ruthin.

I suppose the key questions for the highways guys accompanying the exhibition are whether the plans can somehow dovetail with the pre-Masterplan traffic study, designed to increase on-street parking, or The Masterplan itself, which showed possibilities of minimising the impact of traffic parked or moving on The Square.

Though it would've served its readers better had it printed the map so that it was a more useful size, it's possible to make out at least two (and possibly three) stretches of new one-way streets. One is Ffordd Wynnstay Road. Although the fact that this is currently two-way seems to have quite a moderating influence on driver behaviour, I can understand why this would benefit from a change of rules. Though it will speed traffic up, it will make life a little more convenient, on a street where parking is permitted on both sides.

The real issue at Wynnstay Road is the unlawful parking at the junction with Well Street. Illegally parked cars on the double yellow lines, specially on the Village Bakery side, prevent longer, heavier vehicles from easily turning south (left, coming from County Hall) when only a bit of consideration on the part of motorists is required. Indeed, cars inconsiderately left there create a nuisance for every driver, large and small.
