Y Byd ar Bedwar

Here’s an interesting comment left anonymously on the blog on 23 October 2009, and I quote:
“Just to note in reference to the many searches relating to Rhuthun and Tesco [arrivals here initially via a search engine linking the two together terms together]. S4C Y Byd ar Bedwar are doing a programme on the Tesco applications in some south and mid Wales towns and have been researching the impact on similar towns. I think your blog will have been a useful source of info.”
Wow! and Crumbs! This humble blog potentially used in research for such an erudite TV programme?

Indeed, Y Byd ar Bedwar is a long-standing and well-respected S4C documentary series that has a reputation for high quality current affairs reporting. It returns on 2 November 2009, (after the digital switchover). So far as I am aware, it has English (as well as Welsh) subtitles, for those who prefer a helping hand (chose 888).

Would it be too much to hope that the Rhuthun/Ruthin Blog gets a mention or credit? The weakness, I suppose, is that this blog isn’t dwyieithog; i.e. we’re not bilingual : (

Some liken the spread of Tesco across parts of Wales to the invasive Japanese knotweed—a non-native species driving out native ones; others prefer the choice and convenience Tesco offers. The nearest Tesco new sites in mid Wales are at Y Drenewydd/Newtown, where the building is at an advanced stage and the store is expected to open before Christmas; at Y Trallwng/Welshpool which, we understand, now has permission; and at Machynlleth, where Tesco is seeking what appears to be a disproportionately-sized store for a town of just over 2,000.
