The recent damp week last week has made visible two quite distinct tracks that cut across the Craft Centre grass, in a line from Tesco and the Craft Centre car park. Is it that Tesco shoppers are culturally aware—or is it hard evidence that the Craft Centre is again acting as a free overspill for Tesco staff and shoppers?

The Co-op had one of its busiest Saturday mornings last week—and a slow Saturday afternoon. That morning, there were five tills open, the most seen in recent months, and the car park was nearly full. By comparison, during the same period, Tesco managed seven tills out of its bank of 11.

Popular Annie’s café & tea rooms shut all last week and re-opens today, following a holiday. Roughly opposite, John the Barber is also away on tour. How many businesses can do this? We can’t really comment on John the Barber but we know that Annie’s is so well regarded that patrons will continue to have to book for lunch when she reopens.

Tuesday last week’s unseasonably early snow lingered on the Clwydian Range above Rhuthun, till the weekend. Whereas we might expect snow on the higher ground by mid-November, snow this early is both unusual and unwelcome. Early snow usually tends to evaporate quickly, too, though not so in this case. The River Clwyd was nevertheless ‘doing well’ at the weekend, as a result.

As you walk by the closed-since-August Coffee Mill, you wonder whether you are in Chernobyl. One second it was open and serving, the next closed. No one had time to clean the tables and you can tantalisingly and plainly see crumbs and sugar its last patrons carelessly spilt.

The Beauty & the Beast 2009 charity calendar's all but sold out. That's 500 copies in less than a fortnight. We understand there's to be a second print run. Total raised to date for the breast & testicular units at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is estimated at some £4,000.
