43½ Hours

While taking this photograph, three people turned up on Saturday afternoon at the 2 p.m. newly closed door of Rhuthun Wholefoods. One person said something like, ‘Oh, I forgot’ and promptly turned and went.

The other two were together. They’d forgotten, too, and grumbled mildly about missing the new 2 p.m. closure time. They though it was next week. They wondered what to do and so I was able to ask them.

One item on their list they could get at Tesco. When asked whether Tesco stocked much in the way of wholefoods and health foods that would interest them, they said ‘some’, but few natural herbs and mineral supplements.

Three items they felt they could buy at Rhuthun Organics but they would need to walk to the opposite end of town.

And the remainder? ‘They’ll have to wait till Monday, I suppose’, said one. I debated whether to ruin their weekend even more but decided to save them a journey by reminding them that Rhuthun Wholefoods next opened on *Tuesday* morning at 9.30. The mild grumble soured a little. That was, after all, 43½ hours away. And all for missing the 2 p.m. deadline by a matter of minutes.
