Rumours currently circulating that Bridge Services (Texaco Garage) is to close are grossly exaggerated. True, the manager, local character and good-natured Simon’s apparently leaving. True, the stock’s run right down so that it resembles a pre-Iron Curtain shop without supplies, stripped by queuing Soviets who've appeared from nowhere because there's a fresh supply of pickled cabbage.Also true, though, there was a huge delivery yesterday, ready for the shelves today. It would be nice to hear some categorical denials over the last couple of days, rather than vague reassurances. But it does seem that the place will continue and the pumps won’t run dry. Phew. It's *so* convenient. And with diesel if not petrol the same price in Rhuthun as it is in Dinbych, why go anywhere else?
