Connections

Chances are you’ve received the April edition of Clwyd Connections through your letterboxes. It’s a free magazine delivered to every address in Rhuthun (and Dinbych). It’s full of adverts for local businesses. But what’s it *for* exactly?

It just strikes me as something of an enigma. Though there seem to be marginally fewer advertisers than there once were, presumably it must pay supporters to be included in the publication. Most editorial is a cross between Reader’s Digest and Women’s Realm rather than anything local. With only just over a page of local ‘what’s ons’ and three local notices, is this enough of a hook to local attract readers? Wouldn't advertising in the free sheet Vale Advertiser be a better bet?

In its favour, the Clwyd Connection does seem to offer a medium to smaller businesses and enterprises, something that perhaps the Vale can’t offer at the price. But to be truly successful, doesn’t there need to be more of a point than that? What, for example, happened to the town centre development manager's articles, and the reports from the town council? How could Clwyd Connection improve further to be an even more useful tool?
