Nominally at least, today’s the last day to reserve selected new homes at Glasdir, if you wish to take advantage of the freebies on offer from George Wimpey/Taylor Woodrow/Bryant Homes. These include a part exchange scheme, light fittings and carpets. The offers are not insignificant.

Meanwhile, those attending the 13 March public meeting will have learnt about the flood mitigation measures. These include raising each property by up to 1½m above existing levels, and the construction of reservoirs under the new road that, upon excess water levels, fill and then release the water gradually. These measures are designed to cope with once in a thousand-year occurrence and protect both the site and land on the town side.

We’ve had some heavy and prolonged rain recently. This has flooded the site where the next phase of housing’s to be built. It has to be said, though, that this time the substantial water-logging’s drained away quickly.
