Gweledigaeth Rhuthun (Ruthin Vision) is offering a chance to win some startling local prizes in its first Christmas raffle. 12 prizes include a free tank of petrol each month§, free bottle of wine each week, and a free family lunch each month for four at a variety of Denbighshire restaurants and pubs.
The tickets are £5 each, so aren’t cheap. But neither are the prizes.
There are a number of sponsors, including Leonardo’s, Sweetie Heaven and Grosvenor Florists, the three leading businesses behind Gweledigaeth Rhuthun.
Some may find the beneficiary strange. Rather than a charity raffle, proceeds go to Rhuthun. Well, not generally Rhuthun but through Gweledigaeth Rhuthun specifically to Nadolig Rhuthun (Christmas in Rhuthun), to be precise. We’d say if you have any doubts about this, you should perhaps consider casting them aside. Why? Because most of the prizes are local and have been donated by local businesses. And because the more Nadolig Rhuthun raises, the more likelihood people from outside the town will visit—and not just at Christmas. And because there are traders who, in spite of the post-Tesco difficulties, are trying to make a difference.
