Ch-ch-ch-changes

Caffi Parc-y-Castell Castle Park Café adjacent to Crispin Yard and its two-bed first floor flat were placed on the market last week. Owners ask £275,000 for this “rare opportunity to purchase an established business … within the historic market town of Rhuthun”. No.of covers is 50.

Nearby, the long-term vacant lock-up shop at the bottom of Clwyd Street known formerly as Banton is now ready to let. The interior’s smaller than I remember. It has a number of exposed wooden beams, indicating that its more modern frontage belies its age.

Basement Pam’s Pantry, also on Clwyd Street, closed at the beginning of this month. It sold pastries and sandwiches. Latterly, the shop wasn’t open as much as usual, owing to “holidays”. It opened just under one year ago where once there was a fairly long-standing baker/confectioner and after that some sort of family historian. Another victim to what are fewer convenience shoppers?
The bric-a-brac shop near Carpedi Rhuthun Carpets on Well Street closed this week.
The Clwyd Street terrace including ML Financial Services is now repainted and externally refurbished. ML had announced that the premises were closed till further notice, owing to refurbishment but, upon completion, ML has this week announced its town centre shop is to close. The office on Park Street remains open.
W & G Jones café has undergone an external repaint.

Bar Llaeth is still for sale but Tresher’s and the Star Inn are now off sale.

36 Well Street, formerly the Celf a Chrefft part of the former Williams chemist’s business, and open sporadically during holidays and before Christmas, is being cleared out and undergoing refurbishment. It’s still owned by the adjacent pharmacy.

Bwydydd Ffynnon Foods Ltd t/a Caffi Ty’r Goron Crown House Café, who already bake much of their own bread, snacks and meals, has branched into group catering, including hiring a chef for five hours at home, for £170+travel+£30 per head.
