Lick of Paint

In spite of the impending and inevitable national economic recession, there’s little sign of downturn in Rhuthun, among some of its traders at least, Oddbins aside. Rhuthun’s town traders continue to invest, in many ways:
Into her second fortnight is the proprietress of the unusually-named Cerrig & the Green Lady, an upmarket beauty outlet on St Peter’s Square, where once there was Alton Murphy, Saddle Up and a café/ice cream parlour.

Ethel Austin, closed since Saturday for a refit, will be complete on Friday, internally and externally.

John Jones butchers completed a quickie internal repaint on Monday evening.

Jan’s Cards & the adjacent Quality Dry Cleaners in Well Street have both received an external repaint.

The former opticians known as Banton, vacant forever at the bottom of Clwyd Street, is looking better than it has in over 20 years. Glimpses inside indicate that it is looking good internally, too.

Work continues again on less long standing vacant premises in Well Street, 'twixt Sweetie Heaven & First House, at the former cinema. It’s been on-off here for, well, we’d say over a year. Currently, it’s very much “on”.
The major refit and refurbishment of the police station continues. Perhaps its occupants will arrive back with the promised and well publicised North Wales police baseball caps.

For the record, Boot’s the Chemist, Well Street, has also undergone an external facelift, with new façade over the summer.

An alternative health centre opened in Market Street at the weekend.

The terrace of buildings in Clwyd Street that includes M&L Financial Services, is under scaffolding. As a result, M&L has closed until further notice, but continues to trade from its Park Street premises.
