Commuting - Again

You expect the literature associated with new housing developments to market the local area. Thus it is that Taylor Woodrow/Bryant Homes produces glossy information on Parc Rhuthun, Glasdir.

Given the sub-standard road network as far as the dual carriageway on the A55 eastbound and A494 northbound near Alltami, we would need to question whether Rhuthun is a “great location” for commuters “further afield to Liverpool and Chester”. For this is what Bryant’s blurb suggests.

Actually, Rhuthun may well be a “great location” for many other reasons other than its commuting opportunities, on slower and twisting roads often unsuitable for overtaking. Not that this deters the many people who already commute, and further than Liverpool, too.

We’ve somehow already slightly suspected it, but could the Glasdir housing development be aimed more at commuters than locals? Or, these days, are we *all* commuters, in one way or another, prizing our mobility very highly?

Locals or otherwise? Is this fair comment?
