Some eight Irish travelling families have appeared in the newly surfaced car park by the Old Gaol. It’s said they are on their way back to Ireland for a funeral. It’s most interesting that this evening there were just two other cars present – the usual collection of vehicles within have scattered to Park Road.
It was almost exact two years ago (May 2005) that the county council was in court to evict unwanted guests on what was the proposed Tesco site. Then, there followed a massive clean up operation on the littered and soiled site.
We trust that this time they are each paying their £2 per vehicle per day to use the car park.

Police moved the travellers on during the early hours
