Antidote

It's oft said that on Saturday people tend to do their leisure-type shopping elsewhere than Rhuthun . It's true that on some Saturdays, compared to the preceding Friday, the town can be quieter.

Tomorrow,Saturday, though, do take half-an-hour out to visit the first Rhuthun produce market of the year. Held in the Gaol courtyard and on St Peter’s Square, here is an opportunity for residents and (we trust) visitors to support local businesses and *buy* & sample food that is different. Opening hours are 10-3 though our experience suggests it could pack up a little earlier.

Like the Friday country (W.I.) market in the town hall, the monthly produce market is an antidote to modern supermarket homogeneity. The words are: fresh, local, different. There could be up to 36 stalls.

While in the Gaol courtyard, remember the alternative organic store, which opens Thursdays to Saturdays inclusive, and a proper florist, both nearby.

Tomorrow, why not stay in Rhuthun?
