As I write this, skies over Rhuthun are largely clear. There’s a respite from the heavy and prolonged rain we’ve experienced more on than off, since Sunday. Roadside ditches are beginning to fill, the nentydd (streams, brooks) are all in spate, one drain along Mwrog Street was full last night, the land is at saturation, and run off is considerable.
It all sounds like October 2000, when after similar rainfall, a culvert in Mwrog Street, a retaining wall at Pwllglas and part of the A494 near the Smithy all collapsed and houses in Mwrog Street and at Eyarth flooded.
