Speaking at Wednesday 30 August's Denbighshire County Council planning committee, Gwyn Evans of the Confederation of Small Businesses said Tesco would devastate Ruthin if it went ahead and many small traders are fearing for the survival of their businesses.
"What's happened in Abergele since the store opened there makes shocking reading. Traders say they are more than 40% down on trade, 10 businesses are now for sale and there are seven empty shops.
"The new store would cause decay in the town centre and impact on the quality of life for residents."
