Denbighshire county council confirmed this week that vacant and surplus council land, for years either a makeshift car park or Saturday car boot site, had been sold.
The sale process began in May 2004, when the council considered three offers. Although purchased by developer Cathco, there began speculation that the site might go to Tesco.
