A whole week of emergency
four-way traffic signals on The Square and these were a little inconvenient. We aren't sure if there is ever a benefit from this sort of thing. But if there's one good thing to come out of the enforced 1 minute 55 second wait it's a reduction in
through traffic. Once caught, those who use the town centre as a by-pass will think again.
We're not complaining of motorists driving *into* town. They shop, bank, transact personal business, eat, drink and so on. They contribute to the town and its economy.
But so much of the traffic in town is through traffic
using our town centre as a rat run. They do this because they can. Through traffic contributes nothing and it detracts from the town's appeal. Through traffic needn't actually use town centre roads at all. Perhaps the four-way signals will at least have given some pause for thought.
Rhuthun/Ruthin welcomes motorists who then use the town centre.
