Bashing the Castle

While the medieval gateway at Ruthin Castle has seen a lot of positive attention recently, the ‘modern’ gateway arch looks as if it’s been struck by a vehicle (some sort of wagon). As a result, one of the archway stones is now partially dislodged. It may even pose a danger to the public and to vehicles entering and leaving the hotel. It's impossible to tell how long ago this happened. This joins the mullioned, protruding window over Castle Street on the same structure, which has deteriorated in and from 2019.

The groves on the upright immediately below the loosened stone suggest multiple vehicle bashes

On the other hand, the medieval gateway is looking so much better, thanks to work last year
