No. 11: talk of the town

It's excellent to see a building on the Majestic Travel side of the Square in use at last, even if that's only after 5 p.m. on three evenings a week. New restaurant No. 11 opens this evening. It's been empty too long. And, who knows, if it's a success, dare we ask that it opens at lunchtimes, too? A decent lunch venue is a reason for couples and parties to visit town. It then encourages footfall and economic activity.

Limited ground floor seating area looks great

We normally like to try out and report on new food experiences but, on this occasion, I think we'll pass. I am sure that there will be plenty of well-heeled Ruthinites who can afford £28 per main (and up) but that just seems disappointingly high for your average resident. Especially as the demand for the Foodbank is at record levels.

I am sure that the owners of the Manor House will or have put up their prices but you certainly could get two excellent courses, ice cream and a film for around the price of a main at No. 11.

In any case, the Aventista-driven table booking software wasn't loading:

Perhaps the restaurant is aimed at people out of town. That is a good thing, if it brings trade our way.

Bustling? If only No. 11 would offer lunches, to try to re-established a 'bustling heart' in Rhuthun/Ruthin

In the week that the Free Press presents a veganuary† eight-page 'Reset your Diet' special (which starts with the 'tricks and challenges of veganuary') it seems that there are no vegan options at No. 11 and only one suitable for vegetarians. That could limit parties with a non-meat eater.

† The spell-checker suggests that this word should be 'vinegary'. That was amusing.
