At the Centre of Things

Talking of industrial units (as we were yesterday), Denbighshire council's 20,000 sq ft former Hen Lôn Parcwr social services Canol y Dre premises is on the market for £500,000. You have 13 days in which to submit an informal tender (by 12.00 noon on January, 19th, 2024).

The site is ripe for a tear-down. The masterplan had hoped that it would terminate as housing (being so accessible to the town centre). Iinstead, the land remains marked for light industrial use.

Some green land among the desert. The estate agent's aerial view illuminates the eclecticism of Lôn Parcwr

But, interestingly, there's a 50 per cent overage for the ensuing 20 years should at any time it be redeveloped as housing. Good for Denbighshire for realising that there would be potential for such future development and for safeguarding the council tax payers' interest were housing eventually to sneak in unnoticed.

Workplace-Worksafe once had an interest in the site but they seemed only to want it under preferential terms. Now, they get the opportunity to bid. We shall see.
