This may be temporary but one of the first impressions motorists on approaching town on the A525 from Llanfair DC now get is of a shop with roller shutters. This is the first town centre store to have shutters fitted and their presence is a shame. Towns with shuttered shops look ugly, uncared for, arid, depressing. And they shout 'crime', something that actually is not a problem hereabouts.

On the positive side, we have no convenience stores in town, so this will be of benefit. There's significant housing nearby and not everyone will want to drive or walk to the Co-op or Tesco. Convenience shopping is booming at present (we're told) but these tend to be marketed under established brands (e.g. Morrison's Daily, Porth y Dre Stores).
On the other hand, the store really is neither in town nor among housing. It's been tried at this location before and not worked, including the sale of newspapers. More worryingly, it'll result in more parked cars carelessly dumped at an awkward location on an S-bend where visibility is already limited.
